The Embassy of Fashion Designers Student Scholarship Foundation is established as a charitable non-profit public benefit cooperation, with a 501(c)(3) status, under the Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation Law of California. This corporation is not organized for the private gain of any person.
The Embassy of Fashion Designers International believes in the importance of education and of nurturing talented individuals so they may develop to their fullest potential. In this spirit, we are offering a full tuition for an intensive study program in a recognized fashion institution of your choice for a college academic year. The Embassy of Fashion Designers International Student Scholarship Foundation encourages contributions from corporations and public relations agencies for an endowment. The scholarship program is administered by The Embassy of Fashion Designers International.
The scholarship program was established in 2004 by the Embassy of Fashion Designers International, to assist young men and women for outstanding academic achievement and commitment to the practice of Fashion Design.
Scholarships are available for men and women who plan to pursue an academic degree program in an accredited institution with the purpose of a career in fashion art. Applicants must be high school seniors, college, or trade school students and meet the minimum requirements for graduation from high school or have a G.E.D.
Applicants must have demonstrated academic promise.
Applicants must complete an application which includes a one page essay, two letters of recommendation, and official transcripts of prior work.
Scholarships are awarded for the academic year and are targeted to help defray costs of tuition and/or books. Scholarships cannot be applied to outstanding loans. Scholarships may be renewed annually by qualifying students who complete the renewal application.
Scholarships are awarded to full-time students. Scholarships are a minimum of $1,000 a year for students attending community colleges and a minimum of $5,000 a year for those attending universities and trade schools.
The Embassy of Fashion Designers International invites you to apply for one of the following scholarship:
1. The Diamond Needle Scholarship $5,000
2. The Golden Needle Scholarship $4,000
3. The Silver Needle Scholarship $3,000
4. The Bronze Needle Scholarship $2,000
5. The Fabric Scholarship $1,000
All Applicants must meet the following requirements:
1. To apply for the scholarship, eligible candidates must follow these guidelines:
2. Complete and sign the official application form.
3. Submit an official transcript of courses completed.
4. Submit a brief letter of recommendation from a school or college dean or professor or an individual associated with the Fashion Industry, agency, government institution, nonprofit corporation, or an institution higher education such as a college or university.
5. Submit a typed, double-spaced essay, of no more than three pages as to why you think that you may qualify to receive this fashion design scholarship.
6. Be registered as a full-time undergraduate student at an accredited four-year college or university.
7. Have attained at least junior status by the time the scholarship will be used (Summer or Fall 2004) and have at least one full term remaining by the time the scholarship will be awarded (Summer 2004).
8. Earned and maintained a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 point scale in all courses. If you are not on a 4.0 grading scale, please explain.
Financial Status Statement: This section of the application form requests information regarding your personal need for financial assistance. In your statement, please justify your need and please be as specific as you can in the limited space provided.

Scholarships are paid directly to the institution which the student attends. Payments are made in two or more installments. The first payment is sent after the Foundation receives the student's transcript for the previous term and verification of enrollment. The second payment is made after the Foundation receives the transcript for the previous term. It is the student's responsibility to provide verification of enrollment and the appropriate transcripts.
A member of the Embassy of Fashion Designers Student Scholarship Foundation is assigned as a mentor to each scholarship recipient.
Completed application with all required attachments must be received by April 15, 2009 to be considered.

Eligibility Requirements
To be considered, applicants must:
1) Be accepted into a CEA program.
2) Meet the requirements for the scholarship to which they are applying.
3) Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a U.S. college or university.
4) Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, unless otherwise specified.
5) Adhere to the TEFDISSF Code of Conduct. TEFDISSF reserves the right to revoke a scholarship if its recipient fails to adhere to its Code of Conduct.
Please note: Students can only receive one scholarship per academic year program.
Application Procedure
All pieces of the scholarship application must be submitted together otherwise it will be considered an incomplete application and will not be considered.
These include:
1) Submit a completed scholarship application for the scholarship to which they are applying.
2) Write and send a 400-500 word essay suited to each scholarship for which they are applying.
3) An unofficial transcript must accompany the application.
Deadlines
Application materials must be postmarked by the appropriate date to be considered for a scholarship.
Application for a fall Semester or academic year scholarships are due April 15.
Applications for spring semester scholarship are due October 15.
Applications for summer scholarship are due February 15.
Selection Procedure
Students should apply for only one scholarship. Candidates who meet the scholarship criteria and program requirements will have their essays judged by an independent selection committee.
Essays are evaluated based on the quality of content, style, and grammar. Decisions will not be based on whether the committee agrees with the student's opinion.
Incomplete applications, those who do not meet minimum qualifications, or those who do not follow the formatting guidelines will not be considered. If an insufficient number of qualified candidates apply in any given category, CEA reserves the right to allocate less than the maximum amount of scholarships for that category. The decision of the selection committee is final and not subject to appeal. Scholarship winners will be notified by phone, email, or mail approximately 45 days after each scholarship deadline.
